Winter farming in Swaledale

Swaledale ewes shelter from the worst of the winter weather high on the pass known as Buttertubs. The "shed" in the background is an old railway box van. This is one of many such vans to be found in the high Pennines where, having been sold off by the old railway companies, they still do good service as storage sheds.
